Marcos Villatoro is an Appalachian and Salvadoran writer from Tennessee. He is a graduate of The Iowa Writer's Workshop. He is a professor of Creative Writing at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. His books have won awards, including The Los Angeles Times Best Book of 2001. He has appeared on NPR and on PBS, where his segments on KCET's SoCal connected won an Emmy for him in 2009.
