Malmö, SwedenOccupation Film director, screenwriter Manuel Concha, born 1980 in Malmö, is a Swedish film director of Chilean descent.[1]
After some 30 short films of which The decision and Moments was shown on Gothenburg Film Festival in 2003 Concha debuted in 2008 with the feature film Mañana who premiered at the Stockholm film festival.[2] Manuel Concha dropped out from The University of Film directing in Gothenburgh. His feature film Mañana was selected for the festival A- filmfestival at Cairo International Film Festival. The film was also shown in Cleveland International Film Festival, Bogota International Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, BUFF, Tenerife International Film Festival, Bermuda International Filmfestival and was cited in newspapers including The Plain Dealer and Variety
Concha is also music video director and has made videos among others Swedish Grammy winners The Sounds, Lazee, Grammy winner Leslie, American Grammy nominated Trey Songz][3]), Rebstar, Advance Patrol and Lilleman.
Manuel Concha participated as an actor in Anders and Måns TV series Success duo with Anders and Måns where he played himself as a director in an episode ("Commercial"). In the spring of 2010 Manuel Concha directed "Vilmas Blog"[4]) for Swedish Television (SVT) and in the summer of 2010 Manuel Concha directed the hit series Starke man with Anders Jansson, Claudia Galli, Anna Blomberg and Magnus Mark in the lead roles. Starke Man was nominated at Kristallen 2011, the swedish version of the prestigious american Emmy awards. The series revolves around mayor Lars-Goran Bengtsson in Skånes second most boring municipality, Svinarp. Manuel is also appears in a small role as a cameraman in the episode ("Mediakarusellen"). Manuel Concha also directed season 2 of Starke Man and was broadcasted during the Fall 2011. Manuel Concha directed the tv-series "Elsas Värld" based on the book of Sofi Fahrman "Elsas Mode".
Manuel Concha is currently working on his second feature film that will be shot early 2013.
