Mantalongon, is one of the 33 Barangays in the Town of Dalaguete, Province of Cebu. It is 2.5 hours of travel by bus from Cebu City.

The Summer Capital of Cebu Province
It is called the Summer Capital of Cebu, because of its cold temperature ranging 18-25 degree selsius in the month of November to middle of January. Due to its cold temperature the main livelihood of the people in Mantalongon is farming. Planting different kinds of vegetables.
The Vegetable Basket of Cebu
It is called the Vegetable Basket of Cebu, because it is one of the major vegetable supplier to the other town in Cebu province. Everyday, tons of vegetables delivered to Carbon Market( the biggest Public Market in Cebu City).
LEGEND
Mantalongon comes from two native words: "manta", which means big, and "talongon", meaning tree. The name is given to a certain which is the only one of its kind that can be seen growing tall and proud in the heart of the people in which now bear its name. Not the other tree of its species can be seen anywhere. Hence, travelers and local tribesmen have made the tree into a reference point since it is unique as well as prominently visible at any angle of the vicinity. When tired, they oftentimes take the shelter under it. Its bark, trunk, branches, and leaves look like those of an ordinary “ talong eggplant. It continuously bears small plant. Its fruits are a bit bluish in color which is very much liked that of an eggplant as we have it now. “KAINGINEROS” cut down the tree after tree in the vicinity. But they have spared this plant. Unfortunately, in the late 19th century, death and decay, such overtaken the centuries old plant.
