Career
Manish started his career appearing in national commercials for McDonalds, Windows, Nintendo, and Dominoes. In 2008, he played the lead in The New Group's twice-extended off-Broadway hit Rafta Rafta, named by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 10 best plays of the year. He co-starred in Jerry Bruckheimer’s Disney hit, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Academy Award-nominated director Paula van der Oest's Domino Effect, set to release in 2011. After guest starring on CSI: Las Vegas on CBS, Manish went on to play Hal, a code-breaking computer analyst, on the AMC hit series, Rubicon, . Manish also starred in the romantic comedy, Walkaway, which explores love and culture set in New York. Last fall he played Ravi, the smug A-team leader on Outsourced, a new comedy series from NBC and currently he plays Raj Kher, an alternative college freshman in the 3rd season of The CW’s 90210, .
Another Indian American face will grace the small screen as Manish Dayal joins the growing list of emerging Indian actors making their presence felt on network television. In portraying the role of Raj in The CW’s “90210,” Dayal brings an interesting mix of charismatic charm, sophisticated good looks, dramatic aptitude, and impeccable comedic sense. Rebecca Sinclair, executive producer of 90210, “Manish is a dynamic and vibrant young actor and I’m thrilled that he’s joined the cast of ‘90210’. Manish will be playing the role of Raj,” Sinclair chimed in about the South Carolina native who now resides in Los Angeles. “Raj is a charismatic skater kid who seems initially to be a laid back stoner but who will turn out to have hidden depths.” A gripping role, indeed, but Dayal, who was born and brought up in South Carolina, had quite the interesting journey en route to Hollywood. What started with an audition for the short film “Time and the Hour Run” while he was a student at George Washington University soon morphed into a budding career in several mainstream productions. Among the appearances he made in his young career include NBC’s “Outsourced,” AMC’s “Rubicon,” CBS’s “CSI: Las Vegas,” Shailja Gupta’s film “Walkway,” Jerry Bruckheimer’s summer Disney production of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and voiceovers in the Grand Theft Auto video games.
