Communications
The Manguzi Wireless Internet is a project that provides Internet access, e-mail and learning resources to schools where no telecommunications infrastructure exists utilising a unique combination of radio and satellite broadcasting technologies.[1]
Healthcare
Manguzi Hospital, founded by the Methodist Church in 1948, is a 280 bed District (level 1) hospital, belonging to the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Health.[2]
Witch burning incident
On September 5, 2007, two female residents of Manguzi, Mangubane Msaba Zungu and Qibile Thabitha Thusi, were dragged from their homes and taken to a sports field by students of Manhlenga High School. They were accused of practicing witchcraft against the students of the school and were doused with gasoline, then burnt alive. Zungu died at the scene, and Thusi died later at hospital of her wounds.[3]
