The Mandaue City School for the Arts " Owner: KENNY CAUBAT (since 1998) is an educational innovation that opens up the world of the arts to those who cannot afford private specialized instruction.
Opened in July 1998, with a few number of Grade one pupils identified to have special talents and arts inclination as initial beneficiaries with two teachers. The teachers who staff the school are performers who work in their arts discipline. This entity is operated by the Division of Mandaue City, with the all out support of the Mandaue City Government, DepEd, Region VII Office and non-governmental organizations.
Basic Education
The school offers complete elementary and secondary subjects prescribed by the Department of Education through the Bureau of Elementary Education (BEE) and Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE).
These subjects on Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) are handed distinctively by subject specialists in support of the students’ academic competence for creative and artistic integration in the field of artistic specialization.

To develop highly talented and gifted children through a special education curriculum geared to the arts and designed to form artists who are socially responsible, with high standards of excellence and dedicated to the preservation, enhancement and promotion of Filipino culture.
History of the School
The Mandaue City School for the Arts is an educational innovation that opens up the world of the arts to those who believe that arts are for everyone, whether for the well-off families or not.
The school started with a two-classroom building donated by the Mandaue (Host) Lions Club represented by its president, Mr. Stanley T. Ong. Five years later, four buildings came, another two-storey four classroom building that serves as a Dance Studio and Visual Arts Room. The other two buildings, one of which was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Simon Chuahe, Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry which serves as academic classrooms.
The school is mandated to implement the prescribed general elementary and secondary programs with special focus on the arts, such as piano, violin, choir, rondalla, ukelele, dance, visual arts, theater arts and creative writing both in English and Filipino.
Philosophy
The school is a government-run elementary and secondary non-profit learning institution for artistically gifted and potential children in various fields of arts. MSCFA is a special elementary and secondary curriculum dedicated and committed to the conservation and promotion of the Filipino cultural traditions.
The school aims to develop potential artists, its faculty and staff as cultural workers whose dedication of work geared toward achieving the programs offered by curriculum. Aside from academic and artistic training, the school provides other opportunities to develop their social skills that will enhance the students’ total well being.
The school continues its innovations to address the needs of the socio-economics and cultural realities in the country.
Art Curriculum
MCSFA offers Arts Curriculum apart from Basic Education Curriculum subjects offered by the Department of Education:
• MUSIC: Theory, Voice, Chorus, Piano, Violin, Rondalla, Ukelele
• CREATIVE WRITING: (Filipino – English) Fiction, Poetry, Journalism
• DANCE: Classical and Modern Ballet, Folk Dance
• VISUAL ARTS : Painting, Drafting. Printing, Computer-aided Designs
• THEATER ARTS : Acting, Stage Management, History of Theater, Dance Theater and Directing
General Objectives
1. To promote the arts as an avenue for aesthetic development and cultural enhancement
2. To develop the public elementary and secondary children with artistic talents to their fullest potentials
3. To provide a continuing source of artists who will work for the preservation and enrichment of Filipino Cebuano cultural heritage
Specific Objectives
1. To identify and develop children of school age who have extraordinary talents in music, dance, drama, creative writing and visual arts
2. To foster in these children creativity and artistic excellence
3. To expose these children to situations that develops their aesthetic sense along with their moral, spiritual, social and cultural values to responsive citizenship
4. To serve as venue for recreational and leisure activities
