Mandarich Massif

Mandarich Massif (80°41′S 157°40′E / 80.683°S 157.667°E / -80.683; 157.667) is a rugged Y-shaped massif which rises to 1860 m on the south side of Byrd Glacier. It stands between Brecher Glacier and Twombley Glacier, two southern tributaries to Byrd Glacier. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Captain (later R.Adm.) Stevan Mandarich (1911–2001), U.S. Navy, Chief of Staff to Rear Admiral R.E. Byrd on Operation Deep Freeze 1, 1955-56.
