Misc = "Soft and Wet" was Prince's first single released from hisdebut album , "For You". The1978 track was Prince's first experiment with using sexually chargedlyrics , which were co-written by Chris Moon. The opening lyrics "Hey lover, I've got asugarcane /that I wanna lose in you, baby can you stand the pain" started a long-running career of sexualmetaphor s in Prince's music. The track is in thefunk -disco vein, being comprised of drums, bass guitar andsynthesizer s. An energetic keyboard solo displays Prince's significant skills at a relatively early age. The song was the highlight of "For You" and the only successful single from the album. TheB-side of the single was the album track, "Crazy You."Miscellaneous

MC Hammer recorded "She's Soft and Wet" which appears on his1990 album "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em ." While Hammer's lyrics are somewhat unique, digital sampling from the main groove of Prince's 1978 original is unmistakable. Prince's "Controversy & Ecnirp Publishing" is co-cited in the "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" album liner notes.
* "Soft and Wet" was later released as a B-side to Prince's "Pink Cashmere " single in1993 .----
