Maipady Venkatesh Varma Raja officially Ramantharasugal - XI, and popularly known as the Raja of Kumbla,was the last Monarch of the Principality of Kumbla Seeme which roughly comprised the area of present Kasaragod taluk of Kasaragod district, Kerala, India and some neighbouring regions.[1]The principality existed until the creation of the Indian Republic and was founded by Tulu speaking Bunts[2].The Maipady palace was the seat of the raja of kumbla.[3] He was also the hereditary guardian of the temple of madhur,adoor,kumble and munjagav[4].The raja died on 10 June 1994
