Motorcycle Mahindra GP125 Tyres Dunlop Riders' Championships 0 Mahindra Racing Team is an Indian MotoGP factory team which entered into motorcycle racing as a participant in the 125cc class of the championship. From 2012 onwards the team will be participating in the newly formed Moto3 championship. The team is owned by Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra which has a significant presence in the automotive manufacturing.

Background
Mahindra got indirectly involved in motor racing with the acquisition of Italy based engineering and design firm Engines Engineering in 2008.[1] Engines Engineering has been constructing race bikes and providing specialised components and technical support for teams in MotoGP since 2003. On January 21, 2011 Mahindra announced its direct involvement in the sport with the launch of a 125cc team to compete in the 2011 season.[2]
The team announced British Danny Webb and German Marcel Schrötter as the riders for its debut season. Mufaddal Choonia was named as the team principal. The CEO and founder of Engines Engineering, Alberto Strazzari is leading the technical staff of the team with Antonello Maino acting as the Technical Director. Former rider Nicola Casadei is the Manager of the team.
MotoGP 125cc
In 2011 Mahindra Racing debuted into motor racing as a a participant into the 125cc class of MotoGP championship, which itself was in its last year of running. It has been into regular points scoring throughout the season and overall showed a satisfactory performance. However the major highlight of the team's performance came during the last weekend of the season in Valencia, where Danny Webb secured the first ever pole position for the team[3]. This also became the last ever pole position in the history of 125cc championship.
Moto3
Mahindra Racing has announced its intent to participate in Moto3 championship which will replace the 125cc class from 2012. On 5th November 2011, Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled the team's Moto3 Motorcycle MGP30[4]. The motorcycle has been jointly developed by Mahindra's Engines Engineering and Oral Engineering.
