Colorado State Fair Controversy
Margaret "Maggie" Weinroth was a participate at the 2011 Colorado State Fair where she won Grand Champion Market Goat Overall with a goat named Theodore.[1] After the show, it was determined that the goat was drugged with an illegal substance.[2] She lost her $5,500 in premiums and may face criminal charges.[3] The news became somewhat of an internet sensation, with over 200 articles around the world about the incident, reach as far as Pakistan and New Zealand.[4][5] The drug used was ractopamine, which was found by doing tests on the urine, blood, and tissues.[6]
