Magdalena Ekert, born 30 April 1988[1] is a Polish college tennis player currently playing for the Lynn University Fighting Knights in Boca Raton, Florida. As of April 29, she is ranked No. 7 in singles and No. 5 in Doubles with partner Isabell Raich in NCAA Division II.[2]

Childhood and personal life

Magdalena Ekert was born in Gdańsk, Poland and is the youngest of four siblings. She lived in Poland but moved to the United States for her senior year in High School. She also did competitive figure skating but as a teenager decided to chose tennis as her primary sport. She is currently single but dating and committed to finding a long term partner in the near future. She enjoys going out, watching movies, listening to music and hanging out with friends. She currently enjoys the music of Adele but likes all kind of music from Rap, Hip Hop, Pop and Rock to R&B

Education

Ekert attended Hilton Head Preparatory School in Hilton Head, South Carolina before enrolling at Lynn University. She will graduate May 2011 with a degree in Sports Administration. She is planning to purse a career within the sports industry.

Playing career

As a Junior (2010) Earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles while helping the Blue & White earn a trip to the Final Four… Named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference in singles and also in doubles with Katerina Jiskrova… Tabbed SSC Player of the Week after leading Lynn to a season-opening win over Division I FAU with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles and an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles… Went 18-6 overall, 6-2 in conference play, in singles action playing primarily at the No. 2 position… Recorded a 22-6 record in doubles, 7-1 in SSC action, pairing with two different partners.

As a Sophomore (2009): Earned All-America honors in singles after helping the Fighting Knights to a second consecutive NCAA Finals appearance… Named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference in doubles with teammate Alisson Siaci and Second Team All-SSC in singles… tabbed SSC Player of the Week twice… went 20-2 in singles action playing primarily at the No. 2 position… went a perfect 7-0 in conference play… teamed with four different doubles partners for a combined 23-5 record.

As a Freshman (2008): Earned second team All-Sunshine State Conference honors in doubles with partner Katerina Jiskrova… put together a 23-2 record in singles, primarily splitting time between the fourth and fifth positions… ended the season on a 13-match winning-streak… won all six of her matches in the NCAA Regional and National Tournaments as the Knights reached the NCAA Finals…posted a 24-3 overall doubles record.[3]
