Jesmyn Ward

Jesmyn Ward is an American novelist. She won the 2011 National Book Award for Fiction with Salvage the Bones, a novel about familial love and community during a Gulf coast hurricane.[1]

Life

She graduated from University of Michigan with an MFA.[2] Ward was the John and Renee Grisham Writer in Residence at the University of Mississippi for the 2010-2011 academic year.[3] From from 2008 to 2010 she had a Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University. [4] She is assistant professor at the University of South Alabama.
