Jerry Joseph is an American singer, songwriter, and guitar player. Joseph was born on April 19, 1961, and grew up in the San Diego area. He started playing guitar professionally at age 15 while living in New Zealand. After moving to Arcata, California, he formed the rock/reggae band Little Women in early 1982 and recorded two albums. Little Women featured Louis Butts on bass, Geoff George on keyboards, Brad Rosen on drums, Gregg Freeman on percussion, and several guitarists, including Greg Malar, Steve Smith, and Steven James Wright. They mainly toured the Rocky Mountain states and Pacific northwest. Little Women broke up in 1993.
In 1996, Joseph formed the band Jackmormons (with bassist J.R. Ruppell and drummer Dave Pellicciaro) and released several more albums for Cosmo Sex School Records. Drummer Brad Rosen later replaced Pellicciaro. He later co-founded Stockholm Syndrome with Dave Schools. The Jackmormons toured nationally and played at various large music festivals.
Joseph is noted for his songwriting and the depth of his "creative, cathartic" lyrics. Widespread Panic has covered seven of Joseph's songs.
