History
In 2007, Gorilla Brigade™ was to make its inaugural launch with a 3 panel strip in the final print edition of Numb magazine, alongside editorials featuring Atom Egoyan, Lily Allen and Chuck D. The issue was scrapped and placed online without the Gorilla Brigade™ comic, remaining unpublished until September 1, 2009 (debuting with a strip mourning the loss of Michael Jackson and lampooning pop singer Prince (musician)).
Comic Name
The name Gorilla Brigade was inspired by the monkey brigade, a children's movement, headed by then 12 year old Indira Gandhi, whose purpose was to covertly warn the independence movement's leaders of their impending arrests.
Main Characters
The Boxer
Adorned in his trademark blue robe and red boxing gloves, the brooding, contemplative protagonist, referred to simply as Boxer, is the wise-cracking de facto leader of the motley crew.
The Boy
The boy is the bemused sidekick of the Boxer. He spends countless hours watching YouTube conspiracy videos and is so jaded by information overload that he has a hard time discerning between truth and falsehood, reality and fantasy. He has an addiction to Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cold Stone Creamery and an unseemly attraction to Kate Gosselin.
The boy also finds time to venture into outer-space searching for extraterrestrial life and water.
T.Lulah
T.Lulah is the identity-seeking masked superhero with a standout bouffant, who tries to fit into the brigade. Accepted by the Boxer, T.Lulah is always met with scorn and apprehension by the boy, who feels T.Lulah cannot identify with urban culture and overcompensates to fit in.
Kazmatron
While spending time in outer-space, the boy discovered a hybrid alien-robot named Kazmatron and invited it to visit earth and teach him the ways of the universe. Unfortunately, Kazmatron knows nothing about the universe so it absorbs and conforms conforms to social mores. Little is known about its origins.
Setting
The characters are based out of nondescript Canadian cities.
