Duncan Rennie

Duncan Rennie

Duncan Rennie (born Kirkcaldy, 6 January 1977) is a Scottish actor.

A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Duncan Rennie worked extensively in Scottish Film and Television behind the camera before developing his career as an actor.

Duncan has featured in a wealth of Scottish film including ‘Bulb’ (BAFTA NEW TALENT 2008, Innovation Winner), ‘Dach’ (BAFTA SCOTLAND 2007 nominee, 2008 SSOS Technical Excellence Winner), ‘A Map with Gaps’ (Grand Jury Best Short Documentary at Slamdance 2007), ‘Grace’, ‘The Eskimo and The Wolf’ and ‘Cotopaxi’ (BAFTA SCOTLAND 2005 Best Film nominee), with cameos in ‘Sixteen Years of Alcohol’, ‘Hallam Foe’ and ‘The New Ten Commandments’.

Work in television includes the lead in ‘Science Scams: The Meinertzhagen Collection’ and ‘Wearside Jack: The Ripper Hoaxer’ for Channel 4 and ‘BBC Timewatch The Last Duel’ and ‘History of Scotland’ for the BBC. He has recently completed work on director Norman Stone’s film, “The King James Bible”, playing Guy Fawkes.

Recent highlights for Duncan include the portrayal Robert the Bruce in ‘Aisling’s Children’ the centrepiece pageant for ‘The Gathering: Homecoming 2009.’ This work, directed by Mark Murphy, was performed too an international audience in the historic surroundings of Edinburgh Castle.

Duncan is no stranger to the role of Jesus Christ, appearing to both Scottish and international audiences at landmark locations in the Passion Plays ‘Life of Jesus Christ’, ‘Easter Play’ and ‘Glasgow Passion’, by director Suzanne Lofthus. He can be seen online reprising the role of Jesus in Das Abra’s “Gospel of St.Thomas”.[1]

Duncan is married with a son, born in July 2008.
