Ducketts Common

Ducketts Common

Ducketts Common and Green Gate Common is a 3.5 hectare public park in Harringay, in the London Borough of Haringey.

Located opposite Turnpike Lane tube station, on Green Lanes, Ducketts Common is a remnant of Dovecote farm that was purchased in 1862 for development, and the common was created in 1887 when Green Lanes and other boundary roads were built[1].

The name 'Ducketts' originated from Laurence Ducket who was a descendant of a Norman knight who accompanied William the Conqueror[1].

Green Gate Common is a small patch of green located just across the Green Lanes from Ducketts Common, and it is thought that air raid shelters may exist beneath it[1].
