Music has been a tradition in her family (with both her father and grandfather having worked as performers) - and music was a focal point in her upbringing. In Nashville, she attended Harpeth Hall - a girls' school with a national clientèle and a strong performing arts program, counting Amy Grant and Reese Witherspoon among its alumnae.

In 2002, at the age of 14, she was one of seven finalists (chosen by music industry professionals) at the second annual Nashville Grammy Showcase, hosted by the Nashville Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). Music

Complete versions of four of her songs are available at [http://www.myspace.com/alanagrace her MySpace page] providing a preview of what is on her album, "Break the Silence".

"Black Roses Red" - a ballad - was on the soundtrack for the movie, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", with her voice on this particular song being compared to Andrea Corr. The other songs include "Domino" (power pop/rock), "The Other Side" (ballad, with a Celtic tinge), and "Paranoid" (a song exploring a state of mind).

Released on February 27, 2007, and available on iTunes, the album is produced by Don Gilmore and John Fields. All of the songs are co-written by Alana Grace - and a number of her songs incorporate reflections on people she has encountered in New York City, where she is currently based. As a songwriter, she cites the influences of Joni Mitchell and also Ray Davies and The Kinks.

There are also several MP3s that have surfaced in 2008 including "Can't Go Back", "Breaking", "Obsession" for which there is also a music video, "Cold Day For August", "Mess Of You", "New Way To Fly" or "New Way 2 Fly" and "Words Escape Me".
