Dr. Marjan Bojadziev (Macedonian: Марјан Бојаџиев), PhD, (born 18 June 1967^[1]) is a Macedonian economist who served as President of the Chamber of Commerce from 1994 to 1999 and as CEO of the third largest bank in Macedonia, Macedonian Bank (Makedonska banka), from 1999 to 2004. He became the Provost of the University American College of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia in 2006 and its rector in 2010. He is board member of the government of the city of Skopje, advising in economics and the running of the city.^[2][1]

Bojadziev has served as the manager of many companies in Macedonia and member of numerous boards in professional organizations. As rector of the University American College, on July 12, 2010 he was the treaty signatory of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Report on Foreign Trade of Macedonia made with USAID and has acted as a moderator in conferences on national Macedonian energy and investment policies.

Biography

Education

Marjan Bojadziev obtained a PhD in Economics at the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius Skopje.^[3] He followed this by studying for a specialist diploma in International Business Management at the Trieste University and the New York City University.^[3] He holds a Masters degree in the field of Economics (MSc) with a specialization in marketing.^[3]Later on he passed Executive Education Courses at Harvard Business School ( 2008) and University of Maastricht ( 2009). In 2011 he received a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) certificate.

Financial management

From 1994 to 1999, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors Macedonian Money Market and from 1994 to 1999 as President of the Association of Savings Houses of the Chamber of Commerce. At this time he was also CEO of Inter Falco Savings House( 1993-1996) , as well as Macedonian Savings House ( 1996-1999). Bojadziev was the CEO of the third largest bank in Macedonia, Makedonska banka, from 1999 to 2004.^[3] Marjan Bojadziev was the Managing Director in InterGate Computers during 1996. In 2003 it was reported that the Makedonska banka had lost money three years in a row and was in difficulty, with the shareholders of 2002 losing 5.7 million euros.^[4] Bojadziev reportedly refused to communicate with the media over the financial difficulties.^[4]In 2007, it was reported, three years after Boyadjiev departed from his position in the bank that the running of the bank was "being destroyed by political games".^[5] Boyadjiev had reportedly been the only one who had denied that the bank had a party connection.^[5]

University American College of Skopje

Prior to becoming the Provost in 2006, Marjan Bojadziev was the Dean of the School of Business Administration. His first engagement as a lecturer was in the period 2002-2004 when he taught Strategic Management and Marketing lectures at the New York College in Skopje. He served as the Provost of the University American College from 2006 until 2010; the American Chamber of Commerce in Macedonia reported he was still provost during 2007-2008.^[1][6]

Bojadziev became Rector of the University American College of Skopje in 2010. On July 12, 2010 he signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Report on Foreign Trade of Macedonia with Aleksandar Shahov, Director of the USAID Business Environment Activity (BEA).^[7] According to the University American College, the Foreign Trade Report is "dedicated to the movement of trade in the world, the flows of foreign trade of the Republic of Macedonia for a period of ten years, trade of the Republic of Macedonia and foreign countries that have concluded free trade agreements, current issues of international trade data are used for the business community, public and scientific institutions."^[8] Bojadziev has served as a moderator on subjects related to the national economy and in conferences discussing the energy investments in the country and served as a moderator in a national energy conference in October 2010 as part of Macedonia Energy Week 2010.^[9] As rector, he attended the Fifth Annual International Conference on European Intergration in 2011 in Skopje.^[10]
