Douglas Kevin Rex is an American gastroenterologist, distinguished professor, bestselling author and a past president of the American College of Gastroenterology. He is a current Chancellor’s Professor at Indiana University and the director of endoscopy unit. He is considered one of the world’s foremost experts in colonoscopy and colorectal cancer screening. [1] Douglas Rex was born in Ligonier, Indiana and went to Harvard for his undergraduate education which he completed in 1976 with a summa cum laude. He returned to Indiana University for medical school and graduated with distinction from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1980. He did his residency in internal medicine, fellowship in gastroenterology, joined the faculty in 1985 and stayed there for the subsequent academic career. [1] Though he holds multiple professorships from prestigious institutes all over the world, he remained faithful to his almamater. [2]
