Don Kalb is a Dutch social anthropologist, currently teaching the course 'Debates on Globalization' at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.[1]

He finished his PhD in the social sciences cum laude at the Universiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands. His most famous book is Expanding Class: Power and Everyday Politics in Industrial Communities, The Netherlands, 1850–1950, which critically describes the social and economic developments in Brabant during the 20th century. Especially the influence the electronics company Philips had on everyday life and social structuring is examined.[2]

Since this book has been published, Kalb has focused more and more on issues of globalization and post-socialism in Eastern Europe.[1]
