After a career at the University of Virginia (having graduated with a degree in psychology), Alexander was the 29th overall selection of the 1995 NBA Draft, chosen by the San Antonio Spurs. He has played for the Spurs, the Denver Nuggets, the Orlando Magic and the Charlotte Bobcats, as the latter team marked a return in 2004-2005 to the league, after a three-year absence. His career averages include 5.5 points and 2.7 assists per game. He is now working for the University of Virginia's radio network as a commentator.
