Jon Pertwee makes his final appearance as The Third Doctor in The Planet of the Spiders. Elisabeth Sladen makes her first appearance as Sarah Jane Smith in The Time Warrior.

Guest stars

Nicholas Courtney continues his role of the Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.

This season contains the last episode of which no copies currently exist in colour (Invasion of the Dinosaurs episode 1) and introduces the companion Sarah Jane Smith.
