The area was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Spodnjeposavska statistical region.[2]
There is an Early Baroque mansion with a surrounding park in the settlement. It used to belong to the monastery in Kostanjevica.[3] There is also a small chapel in the village. It is dedicated to The Mother of God and was built in the early 20th century.[4]
