It lies in the hills above the right bank of the river Sava. Traditionally the area was part of the Lower Carniola region. It is now included with the rest of the municipality into the Zasavje statistical region.[2]
The parish church in the village is dedicated to the Saint Anne and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. It is a Late Baroque building dating to the second half of the 18th century with 19th century adaptations.[3]
