Paul Kangas

Paul Kangas has been the Miami-based anchor and financial commentator host of the American television program "Nightly Business Report" since it was a local Florida program that began in 1979. The show is still produced in Florida, where he resides with his wife, Peni. Although he hosts a show that gives financial advice and he was a stockbroker for 12 years, Kangas owns no stock.Fact|date=February 2007

Kangas was born in Houghton, Michigan, and is of Finnish descent. [http://www.loc.gov/rr/european/FinnsAmer/finchro.html] He is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He entered the United States Coast Guard in the early 1960s and served aboard the USCG Cutter Mackinaw. Later, he served as aide to the admiral in command of the 9th Coast Guard District in Cleveland, Ohio. Kangas completed his Coast Guard service in 1963 as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) and earned his brokers license after studying at the New York University Stern School of Business. "The Market Monitor" is a popular segment on the show, where Kangas fields tips from leading figures in the investment community. Some well-known market monitors have included Abby Joseph Cohen, Elaine Garzarelli, and the author of the Dines report.

Kangas ends every broadcast with his trademark, "Wishing all of you the best of good buys!" " [sic] " (a pun on "best of goodbyes").
