Dennis S. Damon is an American politician from Maine. He currently represents District 28[1] in the Maine Senate. Damon, a resident of Trenton, is registered as a Democrat.[2]
On April 22, 2009, Damon and 60 co-sponsors introduced a bill entitled "An Act To End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom",[3] which allowed same-sex couples the right to marry in the state. After having been passed by both the Senate and House, Governor John Baldacci signed the bill into law on May 6, 2009.[4] The law was subsequently repealed by Maine citizens at the ballot box.[5]
