Demico Boothe is an African-American bestselling author of several books. Born in Memphis, TN, he spent nearly 13 years in federal prison and was released in 2003. He wrote his first title WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK MEN IN PRISON? while he was still in prison, and to date has written and published two other books entitled GETTING OUT & STAYING OUT: A BLACK MAN'S GUIDE TO SUCCESS AFTER PRISON and THE TOP 25 THINGS BLACK FOLKS DO THAT WE NEED TO STOP!!! the latter being published in January 2009 and receiving much critical acclaim from the African-American community.[1]
Demico Boothe is noted as being an expert on subjects and issues concerning the African-American community, with emphasis on the U.S. criminal justice system as it relates to black males. On the back of his book WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK MEN IN PRISON? he states that he read and studied over 500 books while he was incarcerated, including the entire Webster's dictionary, Bible, Qur'an, and every alphabetic entry of the 1998 Encyclopædia Britannica. He is slated to release his fourth title with Full Surface Publishing in late 2012.
