Salim Sdiri (born
October 26 ,1978 ) is a Frenchlong jump er ofTunisia n descent. His personal best jump is 8.25 metres, achieved in July 2005 inAngers . On
Friday the 13th July 2007, during theIAAF Golden League atRome 'sOlimpico Stadium, Sdiri was hit in the upper body by a stray javelin thrown byTero Pitkämäki . Sdiri was rushed to a local Rome hospital with non life-threatening injuries, however, the wound was more serious than the initial reports suggested and Sdiri had to return to hospital. Sdiri said:::"The javelin touched the right kidney and there is a slight tear at the top of the kidney....the liver was also touched leaving a hole in it. The javelin penetrated over ten centimetres and not four as we initially thought."
