Deer Park High School is a public high school in the town of Deer Park in suburban Long Island, New York. It is the only high school in the Deer Park School Union Free School District and serves students in grades 912.

Academics

In 2008, the school exceeded the state average passing rate in all nine of the New York State Regents Examinations test areas and students took AP examinations in 16 test areas.[1] The school's 14.9 student-teacher ratio exceeds the 12.8 state average.[2]

Notable alumni

  • Tim Laden – Baseball player, Duke University: Drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 16th round of the 2001 MLB June Amateur Draft and the Chicago Cubs in the 6th round of the 2004 MLB June Amateur Draft.
  • Kathleen Herles – voice of Dora the Explorer Class of 2008[citation needed]
  • Bob McCurdy – the NCAA Division I men's basketball leading scorer in 1974–75[3]
  • Howard Hoffman – President of Personal Health Product Development and formulator of pHresh greens the first 100% organic alkalizing superfood Class of 1999.
