Kessler - Francis - Cardoza

Kessler - Francis - Cardoza was founded by Bill Kessler as an architectural firm in Detroit, Michigan. The firm had a strong commitment to the modernist tradition of art as an imperative element of architecture. The KFC offices closed in June 2004.

Commissions executed by the firm include the following projects:

*Detroit Receiving Hospital and Clinic (6 buildings)
*Delphi Corporation World Headquarters
*State of Michigan Library and Historical Center
*Kresge Foundation
*Flint Institute of Arts
*Detroit Artists Market
*Pewabic Pottery

The firm has promoted art exhibitions and musical performances at Studio 1650, an art gallery project that was housed in the firm's headquarters near the Detroit River. In June 2003 and July 2003, the project hosted the photography of Balthazar Korab and the music of pianist Dennis Tini. Marilyn Trent and Tracy Smith have advised Kessler - Francis - Cardoza on the Studio 1650 project. Sales of artwork displayed at Studio 1650 have benefited the Michigan Architectural Foundation.

Studio 1650 was a play on the firm's suite number in the building at 300 River Place in the Detroit Rivertown District.
