WHIZ (1240 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Variety format. Licensed to Zanesville, Ohio, USA. The station is currently owned by Southeastern Ohio Broadcasting System, Inc. and features programing from ABC Radio , ESPN Radio and Westwood One. History

It began broadcasting with 100 watts in July, 1924. Known then as WALR, the station broadcast at 1210 kHz. In 1939, the call letters were changed to WHIZ and the power was raised to 250 watts. The power was boosted to 1,000 watts in 1950. The station is presently owned by the WHIZ Media Group.
