History of Daysoft
Ron Hamilton led the invention & development of the world's first daily disposable contact lens business before selling it to the US company, Bausch & Lomb in 1996. Hamilton has argued that the subsequent market entry by J&J (Acuvue) and by CIBA (Focus Dailies) should have driven cost down to an affordable level, but this did not happen thereby depriving millions of contact lens wearers of the benefits of daily disposibility. Therefore, on the expiry of his 5 year non-compete agreement in 2001, he completed a new lens design, production process and launched daysoft with the goal of replacing all other brands but at a uniquely low cost to wearers.
Products
Daysoft Limited manufactures and supplies two products, Daysoft 58 and Daysoft 72. Both these lenses are daily disposable lenses designed to be thrown away at the end of each day and therefore require no cleaning solutions. Both daysoft lenses have a base curve of 8.60 and diameter of 14.20 but each has a different design and water content which is 58% in one and 72% in the other.
Daysoft contact lenses have a unique Uni-Fit(tm) 8.60/14.20 design giving fit and comfort equivalence with daily wear soft lens brands which have a BCOR between 8.3 and 9.2 mm and a diameter between 13.8 and 14.5 mm.
Both lenses have a UV protection and contain a pale blue handling tint.
