David M. 'Dave' Foster was a candidate for the office of the Attorney General of Virginia in 2009. He was one of the three Republicans running for the office.

Personal life

Foster has been married to Martha for 28 years, and they are the parents of two children, who attend Virginia colleges. Foster was born in Arlington County where he and his family attend Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. He has practiced law for 28 years since graduating from the University of Virginia’s Law School.

Political career

Foster won two terms on the Arlington County School Board, once as Chairman. While he endorsed by the Arlington Republican Party, Foster officially ran as an independent.[1] In 2009, he ran for the Republican Party of Virginia's nomination for Attorney General, placing third at the convention.[2] He was appointed to a four-year term as Vice President of the Virginia Board of Education in January, 2010.[3]
