David Cravit is a Canadian author, public speaker and vice president of ZoomerMedia, a group of Canadian media operations which target baby boomers or "Zoomers", "baby boomers with zip" as defined by ZoomerMedia president and CEO Moses Znaimer.[1] Cravit is author of The New Old: How the Boomers Are Changing Everything... Again published by ECW Press on October 1, 2008.[2] The book, which details the "destruction" of traditional aging by the boomer generation, was endorsed by Znaimer as "a fascinating predictive window on the new society that lies just ahead. It shows marketing and media professionals, policy makers, researchers, think-tanks, non-profits and savvy, aware individuals how the Boomers are becoming Zoomers, and why aging will never be the same again."[3] Cravit received similar praise from Direct Marketing News[4] and Scientific Intelligence.[5] He has been a frequent speaker at corporate and industry events concerning marketing and development, a guest on numerous radio and TV shows, including On the Line on Crossroads Television System and SqueezePlay on the Business News Network.[6] Cravit has also contributed to professional journals[5] and writes a blog for the online edition of Zoomer Magazine.[7]
Prior to joining ZoomerMedia, Cravit was a partner in Saffer Cravit & Freedman Advertising, which he helped take from start-up to over $150 million in annual billings.[5] The agency had offices in Toronto and Chicago, and was recognized as a leading retail specialist agency in North America.[5] After selling his interest in Saffer Cravit & Freedman, Cravit worked as an independent consultant to other advertising agencies in Canada and the USA, before joining ZoomerMedia in November 2005. With over 30 years of advertising, marketing and consulting experience, Cravit has been recognized as a leading expert in his field, having participated at the most senior levels in the creation and placement of over $5 billion worth of media advertising.[5]
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Cravit was educated at the University of Toronto, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.[8]
