Playing career
Brown played for Dundee St. Joseph's, Dundee (in two spells), Greenock Morton and Peebles Rovers. During the war he guested for Rangers, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham and Port Vale. After the war he enjoyed a long career in league football with Dundee, Stoke, Notts County, Kilmarnock, Darlington, Crewe Alexandra and Barrow. After he retired he was made honorary reserve team manager of Darlington.[1]
