Danesfield Base

Danesfield Base

Danesfield (also known as Danesfield Estate and RAF Medmenham) is a small hamlet in between Marlow and Henley-on-Thames. It is a base where all the homes are for many officers working at various RAF bases nearby, including High Wycombe. There are lots of houses. The houses range from small 3 bedroom houses, up to 6 bedrooms, with 4 and 5 in between. In the base there is a bar which is only open on a Friday night, with free hot dogs for kids! Next to that is Medmenham day nursery. This is where many people send their younger children. On the other side off the base is Danesfield School, for years from Reception to yr 6. This is mainly for the use of children on the Danesfield base, but some come from Medmenham and Marlow. For the older kids Marlow High School is nearby.

Roads

Just to confuse things most of the roads are the same. In the older section there are North Close, South Close and West Close. These are in the north, west and south. Instead of East Close there is a new section of the base which stretches from South Close to Danesfield School. These roads are called Kings Wood, Thames Reach, Chestnut Close, Buckingham Gate and Shelley Close

Other Features

Up the top of the base is a collection of woods. Go to the end of one of the West Closes and other North Closes, leads you into Hog and Hollowhill woods. Good for dog walks and cycling. You can walk or cycle to Hambleden, Marlow, Henley-on-Thames or further.
