Dalveer Bhandari

Dalveer Bhandari (born 1 October, 1947) is a justice of the Supreme Court of India.

Early career

Bhandari completed his master of law degree at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, USA while working for their legal clinic. After graduation he studied and lectured on law in a fellowship program promoting legal education in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. He also worked with a United Nations project called "Delay in the Administration of Criminal Justice in India."

Bhandari has chaired the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, the Advisory Board of Delhi State, and the Delhi chapter of the International Law Association for a number of years. He has done legal work with COFEPOSA.

On 25 July, 2004 he gained appointment as Chief Justice of Maharasthra and Goa.

Case interest

Bhandari is notable for his interest in computerization and intellectual property law. Also he has a history of promoting legal education, both to professionals and to the general public who might be litigants. He has established mediation and conciliation centers in Maharastra and an information centre for litigants in the Bombay High Court.

Career as justice

On 28 October 2005 Bhandari was elevated to the position of justice at the Supreme Court.^[1]
