Ross Levinsohn is the former President of
Fox Interactive Media , theInternet andNew Media arm ofNews Corporation , where he reported directly toRupert Murdoch and News Corp. PresidentPeter Chernin .Named by Murdoch in 2005 to head Fox Interactive, he moved quickly to build the division, most notably paying in excess of $500 million for myspace.com. In less than two years, Fox Interactive Media is valued at more than $6 billion according to Murdoch in a speech in October.
Reportedly, Levinsohn requested more authority to shape the division and was rebuffed by Murdoch and Newscorp CEO Peter Chernin. His departure was amicable.
Levinsohn was formerly Senior Vice President and General Manager of
Fox Sports Interactive Media. His past executive experience includes stints atAltaVista ,CBS Sportsline andHBO .In December 2007, Levinsohn and former AOL Chairman Jonathan Miller launched Velocity Interactive Group, a $1.5 billion media and communications investment fund. Their first investments have signaled a broad global palette. In the US, video advertising concern Broadband Enterprises, widget maker Mixercast, digital media management concern Fabrik, Inc., Publish 2, Generate, Next New Networks and virtual world V-Side. In India, leading media outlets NDTV and India TV.
