It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, India.
CVR College of Engineering is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. The college is located in Mangalpalli(V), Ibrahimpatan(M), Ranga Reddy, 20 km from the centre of Hyderabad. The college is supported by the Cherabuddi Educational Society.
It was ranked 23rd among the engineering colleges of Andhra Pradesh in a survey conducted by the Sakshi newspaper.
CVR has become the youngest (10 years) college to get the coveted JNTUH AUTONOMOUS status for 3 years. No other college in the entire JNTUH system got the autonomous status for 3 years at the age of 10 years.

- Spread over a built-up area of over 28000 square metres on a 28-acre (110,000 m2) campus, the college has 46 classrooms, 11 professors' rooms, 20 teachers' rooms, 2 air-conditioned conference rooms, 26 labs, and about 782 computer systems, supported by UPS and continuous power back-up from generators.
- There are about 650+ computers in the departments.
- The college has an ELCS (English Learning and Communication Skills) lab.
- There is a three-story building for the exclusive use of Library and Postgraduate Research facilities. CVR Library has around 35,000 books and 160+ journals (including IEEE Journals).
- The auditorium, seating 1500 people, is used for workshops, conferences and seminars organized by the college.
- A fleet of around 30 buses serve the college from all parts of the city.
- The canteen provides food to student and staff.
