Curtain (milonga)

Curtain (milonga)

A curtain (cortina) is a short piece (20–60 seconds) of non-dance material, almost always music. that is played between tandas at a milonga (tango dance event). The curtain informs the dancers the tanda has ended. The partners can then without causing offence thank each other and part, returning to their own tables, to free to choose a different partner at their next tanda. Curtains are used at most of the milongas in Argentina and Uruguay and are increasingly common elsewhere.
