The company's flagship franchise is the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, a collectable card game based on the World of Warcraft online game from Blizzard Entertainment. The company is also producing games based on the Penny Arcade franchise, and will also be publishing Penny Arcade's spin-off comic The Lookouts on their Comic Reader in Fall 2011. Cryptozoic Entertainment today continues to release new expansions to the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. They are also releasing games based on popular television shows such as The Big Bang Theory and The Walking Dead in late 2011.
History
Cryptozoic Entertainment was founded in March 2010, with their first big announcement being that the company acquired the rights to the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game on March 24, 2010.[1][2]
Cryptozoic announced their first product, the Wrath Gate expansion for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game in April 2010,[3] and released it on May 25, 2010.[4]
In March of 2011, Cryptozoic announced an extensive line-up of trading cards, board games, and comics that they will be releasing in 2011 and 2012 at the GAMA Trade Show 2011. These announcements marked the first products that Cryptozoic would be releasing that were not part of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, with games and comics based on franchises and properties from Penny Arcade and Warner Brothers.
