The area was traditionally part of the Lower Styria region. It is now included with the rest of the municipality into the Savinja statistical region.[2]
The parish church in the village is dedicated to Our Dear Lady and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Celje. It dates to the 14th century, but was restyled in the Baroque in the 17th century.[3]
