- Cps operon
-
It is a regulatory system in E.coli Producing different types of exoplysaccharides. Excopolysacharides: Protect bacteria from harsh environments, toxic chemicals or bacteriophage. Serve as matrices to link a number of different bacteria into a community or biofilm. Other bacterial exopolysaccharides cause health problems in humans regulation mechanism of Cps Operon: Reduced levels of MDOs(Membrane-drived oligosaccharides) result in autophosphorilation of RcsC. The phosphate group transferred to RcsB. RcsB bind to RcsA. This complex act on the cps promotor and activates transcription of the cps gene.
