Thomas "Cotton" Priddy was a NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup Series) race car driver from Louisville, Kentucky, USA.[1] He was the driver who died at the Memphis-Arkansas Speedway during a race on June 10, 1956.[1] Priddy posthumously collected $50 in winnings ($404.05 in today's money) from that race.[1] Before that he would race two races in the 1953 season.[1] With zero victories, zero finishes in the top five, and zero finishes in the top ten, Priddy had only seventy-three laps of experience - the equivalent of 200.5 miles (322.7 km).[1] Earning only a grand total of $125 at the time of his death ($1,010.14 in today's money), his earnings were paltry even back in those days.[1]
