Costas Valsamis

Costas Valsamis born in 1908 in the Greek island of Symi, Dodecanese - Athens 2003, was a Greek Sculptor.

Biography

In 1932 he entered the Athens School of Fine Arts.

His professor is Costas Dimitriadis.

He finished his studies in 1937.

He worked as a sculptor in Athens until 1945.

Then he obtained a scholarship by the French government.

He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the atelier of Marcel Gimond.

Then at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere, he was a student of Ossip Zadkine.

1979, Nominations of Knight in the orders of the Arts and Letters by the Ministry of the Culture of the Communication of the French Government.

1987, Corresponding member of the French Academy of Fine Arts.

For his work, he was supported and encouraged by his wife Zoe Valsamis, Painter graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Costas Valsamis took part in many exhibitions.

  • The Mother in the occupation, bronze, the first cemetery of Athens.[3]
  • El Greco, bronze bust, Academias street , the square of the cultural center of Athens.
