2012 Copa del SolThe Copa del Sol is an annual exhibition international club football tournament played on the south coast of Spain. The inaugural tournament was first held 3–12 February 2010, one month before the kickoff of the national leagues.
The tournament is a chance for training and match play for the northern European football teams during their winter break. It is organized by Swedish IEC in Sports, part of Lagardère Group.[1]
The final game of the 2010 tournament could not be held due to heavy rain. Both of the teams reaching the final, Shakhtar Donetsk and CSKA Moscow were declared winners.[2] FC Karpaty Lviv were the winners of the 2011 tournament.[3] The tournament prize money in 2011 was €200,000 in total and €40,000 for the winner.
In 2012, the tournament will take place from January 27 to February 8. Rosenborg, FC København, Spartak Moskow, Shakhtar Donetsk among others are expected to participate.[4]
