Comedyoke

Comedyoke

Comedyoke, or the Japanese would say komedaoke: a combination of karaoke and comedy. Since the concept was created in the United States we will use the English spelling. It is pronounced comedy-okee like karaoke but starting the word with comedy finishing with the later part of the word karaoke. i.e. oke. Hence the word COMEDYOKE, or again as the Japanese would say komedaoke.

Comedyoke: this would be a form of karaoke but where the performer would not necessarily sing a song but tell jokes off the monitor through a cd-g machine. Instead of music and words they would be jokes coming through the monitor so one can perform like a stand-up comedian. As the jokes come across the screen the performer would read and tell the joke in best comedic form. These jokes would be already tried and true jokes perform by professional and known comics or comedians. Of course like karaoke the rights to these jokes would need to be acquired so as to put them on a disc. If you cannot get the rights it would be wise to change no less than one word or shorten a pause when waiting for laughs. Which may or may not compromise the joke. It would be best of course to have the rights to the jokes. This form of comedyoke is for the would-be comic who wants to test if he has what it takes just to be on stage and maybe one day tell his own jokes at an open mike night.
