Columbia Central High School is a high school in Columbia, Tennessee, United States. The principal is Vince Springer. The school is operated by Maury County Board of Education. The school's marching band has won numerous awards locally, as well as state-wide, whilst traveling to different high schools and colleges to participate in marching contests. The band regularly attends the annual "Contest of Champions", which is hosted in the neighboring city of Murfreesboro, at Middle Tennessee State University. The band has taken the "Grand Champion" title in 1965, 1967, 1969, 1971, and most recently 2001, where they eliminated the competition by playing the popular piece, To Tame the Perilous Skies, by David Holsinger. The school's football team (the Lions) were the 2009 state runners-up and are the 2010 Class 5A state champions. The 2004 Lady Lions Bowling Team won the TSSAA State Championship and were the 2011 State Runners-up. The 2005 Lions Bowling Team were the state runners-up and won the 2008 TSSAA State Team Championship. Michael Poirier won the 2008 Tennessee Bowler of the Year Award, the TSSAA Singles Championship, along with a team championship. Despite the official "Hail To The Redskins", The Tennessee Waltz is usually played after a big Home Football Win.
