Motives of the Institute

The Colombo Institute of Research & Psychology is an organization that was incorporated by a group of young professionals in the fields of medicine, psychology and business. The motive that brought together these young individuals in these different fields was to address an issue that was ignored by the existing educational establishments in Sri Lanka for decades, i e; lack of research and innovation in the Sri Lankan education system.

Sri Lanka is one of the few countries with a free education system from kindergarten to university level but unfortunately the term “free” could only be applied to the “free of charge” part, as the system hardly encourages free thinking. As a result, the nation is full of graduates with various paper qualifications but anything new or innovative hardly comes out.

Graduates turned out by this system, molded by traditional education and with their brains conditioned to think nothing against the text books, continue to serve and maintain the system.

CIRP was started with the aim of promoting research and related studies popular among the young generation of Sri Lanka. The main goal of CIRP is to inspire an appreciation of unconstrained thinking, creativity and innovation among the youth of the nation.

The Institute has four divisions dedicated to different disciplines
Academic Division - Provides higher education in Psychology and Research methodologies
Research Division - Involved with research in several areas of Psychology,Sociology and HRD
Cooperate Division - Provides services to organizations in terms of Training & Development
Clinical Division - Provides Counseling and Psycho-therapeutic services

In par with the vision of CIRP, our research division believes that the younger generation should play a pivotal role in the process of making the field of research popular in Sri Lanka, thus we strive to inspire an appreciation of innovation, creativity and unconstrained thinking among youth varying from high school students to young academics and amateur researchers.
